Project reports that were highly commended
Highly commended: Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaa Bukit Jambul, Gelugor, Malaysia
The jury of the International CO2nnect Competition would like to Highly Commend the work of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaa Bukit Jambul for their CO2nnect project report.
The jury was impressed with this focused project that looked at the specific issues related to travel to school - why pupils come to school by car or motorbike rather than walk or take the bus. In a very readable report, structured with amusing sub headings, the pupils analysed their CO2 emissions and then discovered the reasons why pupils don't walk to school. This section of the report section was called "The Plot Thickens!" The pupils then set about trying to change attitudes and behaviour and in the final section of the report hope for a "Happy Ending". The report communicated the enthusiasm of the pupils as they undertook the campaign and this also came through in the short You Tube clip which the pupils posted.

The jury of the international CO2nnect Competition would like to highly commend the work of the Primary School at Žiar nad Hronom for their participation in CO2nnect.
The jury was impressed by how the whole school was involved in the CO2nnect project, for instance during the Eco Day, and also by the fact that a cross-curricular approach was taken with many different subject teachers involved. The jury was encouraged to see that the school involved local community stakeholders in their discussions about travel to school, including car drivers and the police. The fact that the pupils focused on practical ways of reducing CO2 emissions from transport was encouraging and the jury hope that the pupils and school are continuing to be involved! This description of the campaign was presented in an attractive report which included excellent examples of pupils work.

The jury of the international CO2nnect Competition would like to Highly Commend the work of the Primary School Ady Endre, Bucharest, for their participation in CO2nnect project.
The jury was impressed by the fact that pupils examined the impact of traffic pollution in their city, not only through how they travelled to school, but also by investigating traffic on the streets around the school. The eight and nine year old pupils then developed ideas on how they and other people can protect the environment by reducing the amount of traffic. To communicate their ideas they crafted models to inform parents and other children in their local community. Posters where used to inform a wider public about personal impact on climate change and the challenges to change this impact. These posters were displayed in public places and raised a discussion within the local community.
